The 4.25” Rocket Launcher, Model 1 is a lightweight, accurate, and powerful medium-caliber
rocket launcher. It is designed for manufacturability, and priced extremely competitively. In
combination with the WPE suite of rockets, it provides a high-performance punch previously
lacking in western arsenals. The rocket-based propulsion provides dramatically lower backblast
danger areas and firing overpressures compared to recoilless guns while maintaining extremely
high velocity. This prevents the traumatic blast-induced brain injuries found with such systems.
A picatinny rail mount is provided for any optical sighting system that accepts such an interface.
WPE recommends EOTech holographic weapon sights or low-power variable magnification
scopes. The mount is sized to allow the use of AR-15 pattern weapon sight mounts at the
standard 1.54” optical centerline height over rail. Provision is also made for vertical foregrips or
bipods and laser aiming modules through additional picatinny rail interfaces. The shoulder stock
mount is adjustable and of the AR-15 milspec standard. A Magpul stock is standard, but other
options can be offered if desired.
The first rocket variant developed by WPE, the Inert Rocket, Model 1 consists of WPE’s standard aft fuselage section, and a weighted inert nose cone using our proprietary warhead interface. It is predominantly intended for nonmilitary sales or training purposes, and can be procured as a simulacrum of the Model 2 (Tandem) or Model 3 (Blast-Frag) warheads. It is capable of supersonic flight in excess of 350 m/s.
The Tandem Rocket, Model 2 is the core of WPE’s antiarmor range. This rocket is designed specifically for defeating ERA-protected, special-armor equipped MBT frontal turret armor packages. The reference threats are well-documented in publicly available literature, notably the T-72B Model 1985 turret frontal armor array. This rocket combines an exceptionally lethal warhead capable of defeating modern MBT frontal armor with very high rocket speed, providing high first-round hit probabilities at long ranges. WPE’s rocket-based architecture provides low backblast and minimal TBI concerns, unlike recoilless guns. The rocket is designed to maximize lethality against various countermeasures, including ERA, slat, cage, and chain armor, and other countermeasures.
The Model 2 (Special Purpose) is a modified Model 2 rocket designed for special purposes.
The Blast-Fragmentation Model 3 rocket is WPE’s offering for engaging unarmored and lightly-armored targets. It consists of a blast-fragmentation warhead body with a nose fuse well sized for US Military standard mortar fuses. This is combined with our proprietary warhead interface and provides a supersonic high-explosive punch capable of defeating lightly armored threats. The use of standardized fuses allows for a multitude of fusing options for the end-user, including point-detonating, time, or variable-time. Time and VT fusing allows the engagement of certain air threats in addition to use as an airburst round against targets in defilade.
Washtenaw Precision Engineering is pleased to offer an adapter kit to allow the mounting of legacy PG-7 family rocket warheads to our rocket fuselage. The result is the reliable punch of widely-known warheads like PG-7V/VT and RHEF-7MA, flying at triple their normal velocity. This dramatically increases range and first-round hit probability against fixed or moving targets. The adapter is machined aluminum, and comes with a spacer assembly to adapt various common PG-7 variants to the 4.25” nominal bore diameter of the WPE Model 1 rocket launcher.
The first of its kind, KillFly is a novel, light weight, production optimized C-UAS effector designed to be
fired from Interceptor-UAS and crewed aircraft.
KillFly is designed to kill Shahed-136 at significantly lower cost than competing systems.
KillFly consists of: a transport and launch container (TPK); a lightweight and accurate unguided air-to-air
rocket; a lethal, purpose-designed warhead; and off-the-shelf proximity + impact fuses.
